Personality Types

On today’s show . . .

Jungian Archetypes

Are you a King, a Warrior, a Magician, or a Lover? And how might this knowledge help you in love and work?

“What a Man Can Be, He Must Be.”

This is Abraham Maslow’s own summation of his thoughts on the concept of Self-Actualization; which forms the pinnacle of his famous Hierarchy of Needs.

In the last two segments of “Word Smatter” (Episode 15 and Episode 16), we presented the first four levels of this figurative pyramid, with Self-Actualization being the fifth.

All five levels, once again:

  1. Physiological
  2. Safety
  3. Love and Belonging
  4. Esteem
  5. Self-Actualization

It is this last level — Self-Actualization — as well as the concept of will-power, that we will discuss today with Professor Jan Arnold.

Rebel Without a Context

In Episode 15, we started a 4-part series on political hit pieces. We started by discussing the general concept of yellow journalism. Then in Episode 16, we brought it down to a microcosm — the nasty things we say about each other in the lunch room at work, or on social media. Stuff I call Yellow Stream Media.

In this episode, we’ll talk about context — how it frames meanings and perceptions and moral judgments about . . . everything.
