The High Cost Of Cheap Sex

On today’s show . . .

Dog-Whistle Politics

The next installment of “Word Smatter”!

Every week in 2016, until the elections in November, and probably for a few weeks thereafter, we’re gonna look at the language used by the Presidential candidates. Who’s telling the truth? Who’s not? What do they mean when they use words like “Socialism”, “Constitutional”, “Free Market”? Why is it that the word “big” makes everything pejorative? “Big Government”, “Big Oil”, “Big Pharma”, “Big Brother”?

Politicians notoriously use big words – let’s call it Big Rhetoric – words that remain undefined to the masses, but that cause big emotional reactions. And these politicians know that their constituencies are gonna start climbing the cages and flinging poo when they hear certain words . . . like “baby parts”, for instance.

It’s called Dog-Whistle Politics. Ignorant people come when they’re called and vote a certain way . . . all because they’ve been programmed to do so when triggered by key words. Would these people react differently if they really knew what their leaders were talking about.
